When you’re clearing up, do you ever stop and read the old letters and papers you find? Sorting attics and cupboards is particularly poignant after someone close to you has died. You find yourself wishing you could ask questions and find out more about the items you discover.

That’s what inspired the idea for Amazing Lives Uncovered.

Our programme idea is to show the countless ways that amazing life stories can be uncovered.

Possibly a puzzling family item is discovered, owned by someone who has died, that prompts research to learn the story behind it. Perhaps we simply provide a platform that encourages seemingly everyday people to talk about themselves and their history, revealing rich and extraordinary lives that are amazing and should not be forgotten.

We will use a few presenters for each episode, who have charm and are uniquely attractive rather than blandly beautiful, with contrasting personal styles, including polarising types who are a bit confrontational, like Gordon Ramsay or Simon Cowell.

Stories will cover a spectrum, from uplifting stories to more tragic ones. Each story segment will build tension and work to gain a reaction, like “wow, I can’t believe that”. We would film in locations that are rarely used, like hotel stairwells and crumbling Victorian graveyards in order to look a bit different to the current crop of reality shows.
